A Certain Sad Case

For a number of reasons, none of which seem exactly honest, Strauss, and his bud Jasha, always carefully avoided mentioning how derivative of Der Untergang Des Abenlandes was Sein und Zeit, even employing some of the same "original" terminology. Indeed, one might gather from their scattered comments that Heidegger was so absorbed in studying Aristotle that he never even heard of Spengler. Granted that neither had any obligation of disclosure toward Strauss's American sycophants, present day admirers of either would do well to consider the peculiarity of this omission. (In "some of the same 'original' terminology", I don't include Dasein, by the way. I mean, presented by Heidegger as if it were original.)
