As the guns remained safely in their holsters, the armed security that the college hired for the croquet match hurt no one and can therefore be viewed simply as a waste of the college's money. However, it is troubling that the college feels that guns are the way to deal with rowdy students, especially since the college responded to complaints about overly aggressive security guards not by restraining security but by bringing in people with more firepower.
