Only for anyone completely without a clue, a concise 'expose' of this particular pile of nonsense appeared in the May 30, 1985 issue of The New York Review of Books, under the title "Sphinx Without A Secret", by M. F. Burnyeat. The article is available online through http://www.nybooks.com/archives/. It is free to subscribers of The NYRB electronic edition and there is a small charge for nonsubscribers. Strauss's books are actually no worse than those of other luminaries associated with St. John's. Birds of a feather flock together.
